Revelation 12, Blood Moons, and April 2014

I want to begin this post with a large caveat: I am not espousing the study of astrology, nor am I setting a date for the return of Jesus Christ.

That being said, however, in my studies I’ve come across some information that I’m simply making available to you, and encourage you to study it out for yourself and draw your own conclusions. There may be something to this, and there might not be.

Let’s start in Revelation 12:1-2

And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

I believe that this happens 1/2 way through the Tribulation Period, so 3.5 years into that time period. It may be, however, that this event is actually the beginning of the Tribulation Period.

Now here’s the first interesting part. On September 23, 2017, there is an astronomical alignment that occurs ONLY on that day. The constellation Virgo (the virgin) will be “clothed in the sun” since the constellation will be in the sky during daylight hours, the moon will be at her feet, and the constellation Leo will be on her head. Leo only contains 9 stars, but on the morning of September 23, 2017, there will be 3 additional “stars” with Mercury, Venus, and Mars combining with Leo, “crowning” her with 12 stars. Jupiter, the king of the planets, will be exiting through her legs, “giving birth” to it.

This exact alignment only occurs on that day. You can confirm this by downloading the free software Stellarium and research it for yourself!

There have been times where some of these conditions have been met. For instance, in 2011 the moon was at her feet and she was “clothed with the sun,” but in 2017, all four of the specific things mentioned in Revelation 12 occur:

  1. Clothed in the sun. The sun will be shining through her, covering her with its light.
  2. Moon at her feet. Because of the phase of the moon, she appears to be standing on top of it.
  3. Giving birth to the male child. In different years she “gives birth” to some of the other planets like Mercury, Saturn, or Venus. But only in 2017 does she “give birth” to Jupiter, the king planet. Notice in the image from Stellarium above that, using the actual constellation lines, Jupiter will be directly between the legs of the constellation.
  4. With a crown of 12 stars. The constellation Virgo (the virgin) is always “crowned” with Leo (the Lion), which has exactly 9 stars. Only in 2017 are there exactly three more added to create a crown of 12 stars (Mercury, Venus, and Mars).

Why should we even consider using stars and constellations to understand Scripture?

Back in the beginning of the Bible, during the creation, God reveals what the stars are for:

Genesis 1:14

And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

Why should we find it difficult to consider that God uses stars as a sign? He said that was one of their purposes!

Now, IF that is the fulfillment of the prophecy of Revelation 12:1-2, and that’s a BIG IF, then back up 3.5 years.

Why go back 3.5 years? Remember that the prophecy in Revelation 12:1-2 may be at the midpoint of the Tribulation Period. So go back 3.5 years. Where does that take us?

March/April 2014!

Are there any other indicators happening that would coincide with this?

Beginning this year, there is a series of “blood moons” which occur over the next eighteen months. Astonishingly, each one will fall on a biblical feast of Israel!

OK. Let’s back up. What is a “blood moon” and why is there any significance to a series of them?

Well, a blood moon is a full moon that, because of the position of the earth, sun, and moon, will appear to have a reddish cast to it and be a bit darker than normal. Hence the title “blood moon.”

Now here’s where things begin to get a little more…interesting.

A similar series of blood moons has only occurred three times (other than the one we’re getting ready to experience) in recent centuries. Each time this series happened, there were significant events that occurred for the Jewish people.

The first recent series of blood moons was in the years 1493 and 1494. That was the date of the Spanish Inquisition, when all Jews were expelled from Spain.

The next series of blood moons was in 1949 and 1950, following Israel becoming a nation and after the attacks from all her neighbors.

The last time this happened was 1967 and 1968, immediately after the 6-day war when Israel liberated Jerusalem.

Now, the beginning of this new blood moon cycle begins, wait for it… April, 2014.

On Passover!

There’s nothing in Scripture that indicates that this is a sign we are to be watching for, but it certainly helps fulfill Jesus’ admonition that there would be “signs in the sun, moon, and stars!” Each of the three recent series of blood moon appearances have been very close to significant events that impacted the Jewish people, which I think should cause us to pay attention to the one that is coming up!

I don’t mean to sound like a cheap TV commercial, but wait! There’s more!

Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 24:32-34 that there was an event which would begin a countdown toward the end – the reestablishment of Israel as a nation:

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

That event happened in 1948. So beginning at that mark, that specific generation that experienced the rebirth of the nation of Israel would also see the prophetic events He described throughout the rest of chapter 24 of Matthew – which includes the Tribulation Period.

What’s a generation? Here’s what Moses said about it in Psalm 90:10:

The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

So Moses says that a generation is 70, or if you’re exceptionally strong 80, years.

2017 is the year that will mark the 70th anniversary of the rebirth of Israel.

Does this mean we can know the date of the Rapture of the church? No. We’re not talking about the timing of the Rapture, we’re talking about the Tribulation Period. While I think that the Rapture will be the beginning of the Tribulation, it doesn’t have to be. There could be a span of days, weeks, or months between the Rapture and the start of the Tribulation Period. It could start immediately, and there might be a period of time in between.

The Tribulation Period will begin, according to Daniel 9:27, with the Antichrist signing a treaty with the nation of Israel.

And he (Antichrist) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week (seven years): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Oh, by the way…

John Kerry is working overtime to get a peace deal done between Israel and the Palestinians for a two-state solution. His announced time frame to have it signed is April, 2014.

It might be a coincidence that the blood moon cycle begins at the same time that there is peace treaty scheduled to be signed, 3.5 years before a sign appears in the heavens that is foretold in Revelation 12.

One more thing.

September 23, 2017, the date for the alignment? That’s immediately after the Feast of Trumpets, the next feast to be fulfilled in the prophetic calendar – September 21-22, 2017.

And then there’s the strange prediction by Rabbi Yidhak Kaduri before his death which I wrote about here, where he said that he’d met the Messiah, but that Messiah would not be revealed until after Ariel Sharon passed away – Ariel Sharon died two weeks ago.

I am not saying that Jesus is coming back in April. I don’t know, and neither do you.

All this might be a coincidence. And it may be more.

Something to make you go “Hmmm…”

We’ll know soon!

What do you think?
